Late Queen Elizabeth’s Childhood Letter Sold for £25,000

Daily Voice of People Desk Report:

A childhood letter written by the late Queen Elizabeth II, when she was around 10 years old, has sold at auction in Kent for £25,000, far exceeding its initial estimate of £4,000.

The single-page letter, believed to have been written between 1936 and 1940, was addressed to Beatrice Stillman, the head housemaid at Royal Lodge in Windsor.

Signed “Love from Elizabeth,” the future monarch inquired about the well-being of birds and goldfish and requested that the primroses she had picked be shared among the staff.

The letter was one of several discovered in 2024 in a suitcase belonging to Ms. Stillman’s niece, Jean Westacott. Auctioneers highlighted the historical significance of the letter and how it offered a glimpse into the future Queen’s early character. The archive also includes a note from Princess Margaret.
