“Even if You Write Over Kushtia in My Name, I Will Not Move an Inch”: MP Amir Hamza

Bangladesh Correspondent, 27 February: Amir Hamza, Member of Parliament for Kushtia-3 and an Islamic speaker, has claimed that over the past three days, he received offers involving a large sum of money centering on Kushtia Medical College. However, he said he rejected all such temptations.

Speaking at a meeting of the Kushtia Medical College Hospital Management Committee on Thursday (26 February) afternoon, he said, “In just three days, I have received offers of around 50 crore taka over a single issue related to the medical college. No one would know—except Allah. But I have made it clear that not only 50 crore, even 100 crore, or even if you write over Kushtia in my name, I will not move an inch from my position.”

He warned that, whether relatives, party affiliates, or members of the opposition—whatever it may be—if anyone tries to use his name for unethical gain, strict action will be taken. “We do not want to take any unlawful path outside what is lawful,” he said.

Amir Hamza further stated that it is best to remain content with little and proceed through lawful means. Those driven by excessive greed or thoughts of unfair advantage, he said, should pursue such interests elsewhere—not in this district.

The meeting was attended by Kushtia Deputy Commissioner Iqbal Hossain, Medical College Hospital Director Dr. Shahidul Islam, and other concerned officials.
