Young Man Beaten to Death in Faridpur Over Clothesline, Brother Seriously Injured
Dhaka, 27 February – In Gowlachamot Molyabari Road, a young man, Juel Molya (36), was beaten to death on Friday morning after objecting to a clothesline being set up for drying clothes. His younger brother, Sohel Molya (24), was seriously injured in the attack.
According to the victim’s family, the deceased Juel and Sohel Molya were sons of the late Moniruddin Ansari from the area. The accused, Sarfaraj and his wife Moni Begum, allegedly attacked Juel and Sohel with sticks. The brothers’ mother was also injured in the assault.
Residents rescued the injured and took them to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where Juel was declared dead. Sohel was sent to Dhaka for advanced treatment.
Md. Azmir Hossain, Additional Police Superintendent of Faridpur Sadar Circle, confirmed that police arrived at the scene after receiving information and arrested the couple. “The accused had prior complaints filed against them. The matter is under investigation,” he said.
Locals described the attack as shocking and deplorable, criticizing the use of a trivial dispute over a clothesline as a reason for murder.
