Jubo Dal Leader Threatens to Break Limbs, Demands 5 Lakh Taka in Front of Police OC

Dhaka Correspondent: In front of the Upazila Parishad of Gurudaspur in Natore district, allegations have surfaced against Jubo Dal leader Rakibur Rahman Raja for demanding 5 lakh taka as extortion over the lease of a haat-bazaar. The incident occurred on Thursday around 3 pm.

In a video circulated online, Raja can be seen threatening Obaidul Islam Tapu, demanding money and raising his finger to threaten that he would break Tapu’s hands and legs. The local OC was present at the scene and tried to calm the situation.

Rakibur Rahman Raja is the Joint General Secretary of Jubo Dal in Nazirpur Union, Gurudaspur. The complainant, Obaidul Islam Tapu, is a former vice president of the Matsyajibi Party in the same union. Both are followers of BNP’s newly elected MP Abdul Aziz.

Obaidul Islam Tapu claimed that Raja, upset over not receiving the lease through the tender process, publicly demanded 5 lakh taka. However, Raja denied the allegation, stating that the issue is a business-related claim and has been politically misrepresented.
